More info about it

Some of the races in the series offer combined fields, such as the Coastal Classic Criterium, where there is a Cat3/4 field and a Pro1/2/3 field. In instances such as this, all riders that start the Cat3/4 race (regardless of if they are 3's or 4's at the time) will score points for the Cat3 Competition Standings ("Competition Standings" referring to both the Velotooler Overall Leaders Jersey and the Stella Artois Aggressive Rider Jersey). In the Pro1/2/3 race, all riders (regardless of if they are 1's, 2's or 3's at the time) will score points towards the Pro1/2 Competition Standings. This will allow, for example, a Cat4 rider to score points in the Cat3 Competition Standings, so that if they are able to upgrade to Cat3 prior to a race like Quabbin (which has a Cat3 only field in which the Cat3 Competition Standings are scored from), they still have a chance to be competitive in the Cat3 Competition Standings (as opposed to having to start from scratch with zero points). The same would apply in the example of a Cat3 scoring points towards the Pro1/2 Competition Standings in a Pro1/2/3 race, so that if that Cat3 upgrades to Cat2 prior to the end of the series, they have the potential of already having accumulated some points in the Pro1/2 Competition Standings. If a rider upgrades from Cat3 to Cat2, but has accumulated enough points in previous races to still be leading the Cat3 Velotooler Overall Leaders Jersey or Stella Artois Aggressive Rider Jersey competitions after the conclusion of the final race in the series, that rider may still claim the title in that particular category.
